Impact After being called up from Gwinnett on July 5, White started in each of Atlanta's ensuing three games, but he quickly fell out of favor and logged just two plate appearances in total over the subsequent two weeks. White will head back to Gwinnett to pick up regular at-bats and will cede his spot on the 26-man active roster to veteran Whit Merrifield, who signed a one-year deal with Atlanta on Monday and could push for playing time at second base or in the corner outfield.

Impact After making three starts in the outfield last weekend versus the Phillies while Atlanta played without Ramon Laureano (oblique), White has moved back to the bench, even though Laureano was placed on the injured list Wednesday. Rather than White, Atlanta has turned to Eddie Rosario to fill the opening in the outfield, as Rosario will get his seventh consecutive start Sunday. The right-handed-hitting White could still be a candidate to replace the lefty-hitting Rosario in the lineup against left-handed pitching, at least until Laureano returns from the IL.

Impact White took Tyler Phillips deep in the sixth inning for his first big-league homer since June 12, 2022, when he played for the Rangers. White picked up his first two hits of the season in just his third start. His recent tick in playing time may not last long, as Ramon Laureano (oblique) is expected to return soon.

Impact White lost his spot on Atlanta's 40-man roster and was released last weekend, after he suffered a season-ending left shoulder injury earlier this month. By re-signing with Atlanta, White will have access to the organization's facilities and doctors while he completes his rehab for the shoulder injury. He'll likely revert to Triple-A Gwinnett's full-season injured list.

Impact White made a minimal impact in six big-league games back in April and spent most of the year with Triple-A Gwinnett, hitting .254/.363/.450 with nine homers and 14 steals in 43 games. He was recently shut down for the season with an arm injury and will now have to go through rehab as a free agent. It's unlikely a team will pick him up until the offseason given his injury situation.

Shut down for season Triple-A Gwinnett placed White on its full-season injured list Friday due to an unspecified issue.

Impact Though Atlanta hasn't provided an explanation for why White has been shut down for the season, Garrett Spain of BatteryPower.com notes that the 29-year-old exited Gwinnett's July 6 game after landing awkwardly on his left arm while attempting to make a diving catch in the outfield. White retains a spot on Atlanta's 40-man roster, but he could be recalled from Gwinnett and transferred to the big club's 60-day injured list when room is needed on the roster for another player.
