Impact Jimenez was participating in his second game of the season after being activated from the injured list Monday. He tallied his first hit of the campaign with a leadoff single in the second inning. However, the highlight came in the eighth inning, when he blasted a game-winning home run. The White Sox have shown little hesitation immediately getting Jimenez back into the mix, as he started in left field Tuesday and has slotted into the cleanup role in both of his contests.

Impact This was Jimenez's first game since spring training, during which he suffered a torn pectoral tendon that made him miss four months. He was understandably anxious to get back and saw just nine pitches in his four at-bats, including expanding the strike zone during his strikeout. Impact Jimenez could well wind up being the biggest addition any team makes at the deadline, as he hasn't played all season since rupturing his left pectoral tendon in late March while trying to rob a home run in spring training. He's one of the better sluggers in the league when healthy, as he's hit 45 homers in 177 games since his debut back in 2019, pairing that with a .276/.321/.527 slash line. He was originally expected to be out until late August or early September, but his .289/.327/.467 line in 12 rehab games suggests he's healthy. Jake Burger was optioned in a corresponding move.

Impact Jimenez is currently with Triple-A Charlotte and played the 11th game of his rehab assignment Friday. White Sox manager Tony La Russa is anxious to have him back, but he cautions against bringing him before he's ready. "It starts with physically being ready to play, and play a lot," La Russa said Friday. "But you don't want him to come back up here unless he's got some timing at the plate because he's going to want to -- and he's going to be expected to -- produce right away." Jimenez looks fully recovered and is playing left field, but there's no indication of a timeline for his return. The outfielder is hitting .293/.333/.488 with two home runs over 41 rehab at-bats.

Impact Jimenez kicked off his rehab assignment with two games for High-A Winston-Salem over the weekend before moving up the ladder to Triple-A. The 24-year-old appeared as a designated hitter during the first rehab game, then moved to left field for the next three contests, including nine innings Wednesday.
