Picking up another start Rodriguez is listed as the Tigers' scheduled starter for Saturday's game against the Guardians in Detroit, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Impact Rodriguez will make a second straight turn through the Detroit rotation, more so because the Tigers currently have six starters on the injured list rather than as a result of his performance in his first MLB start Monday. Though the right-hander lasted five innings and took a no-decision against the Twins, he gave up four earned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four. How Rodriguez performs against the Guardians will likely determine whether he or Rony Garcia sticks around as the Tigers' No. 5 starter when Matt Manning (shoulder) likely returns from the IL next week.

Settles down after shaky start Rodriguez allowed four runs on four hits across five innings and did not factor into the decision Monday against the Twins. He walked three and struck out four.

Impact Making his first career MLB start, Rodriguez got into a hole early, as he allowed a first-inning grand slam to Max Kepler with just one out. The 24-year-old turned things around, however, and allowed only one more hit following the grand slam while retiring 14 additional batters. Rodriguez is currently slated to toe the rubber again Saturday against Cleveland, and if he can avoid big mistakes in the early going, he might be able to turn in a better overall line and possibly pick up his first win in the majors.

Promoted, starting Monday Rodriguez was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday and is scheduled to start Monday against the Guardians.

Impact The 24-year-old made the Opening Day roster and pitched in one game for Detroit before being sent to Toledo, and he'll now rejoin the big-league club. Rodriguez has a 3.57 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 21:13 K:BB over 22.2 innings at Triple-A this year, and he'll now receive a look in the Tigers' starting rotation with the unit sustaining yet another injury. Eduardo Rodriguez (ribs) was placed on the 15-day IL in a corresponding move.

Optioned to Triple-A Rodriguez was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Friday.

Impact Rodriguez made the Opening Day roster having previously made just a single Triple-A appearance. He only made one appearance at the highest level, giving up four runs in 2.2 innings against the White Sox on Sunday, before returning to the minors. A corresponding move has not yet been announced.

Impact Rodriguez tossed 3.1 scoreless innings this spring, only allowing three hits and a walk while striking out two batters. With Jose Cisnero (elbow) being placed on the 60-day injured list Wednesday, the 24-year-old will crack the big-league roster for the first time in his career. He spent the majority of the 2021 season with Erie, struggling to a 5.83 ERA and 1.30 WHIP.

Impact Rodriguez made a brief cameo at Toledo last October, but he otherwise spent the entire 2021 season at the Double-A level. He made 18 starts in total for Erie, submitting a 5.83 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 80:29 K:BB over 75.2 innings.
