Impact The right-hander continues to dominate as Cleveland's 1A closer alongside 1B option James Karinchak -- Clase has 10 saves in 11 chances plus two holds on the season, while Karinchak is 7-for-8 in save opportunities with six holds. Over his last 12 appearances, Clase has a 0.73 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 12.1 innings, and his ability to limit hard contact has allowed him to avoid much damage from his 10 walks during that stretch.

Impact Clase entered a 4-4 tie in the seventh and allowed Jonathan Davis to reach base and eventually score but was bailed out when Cleveland scored two in the bottom of the inning for a walk-off win. There's a chance Clase was a bit rusty as he hadn't pitched in nearly a week but the run allowed was only his third permitted this year in 22.2 innings for a dazzling 1.19 ERA.

Impact One of the free passes was intentional, but Clase still had one of his shakier appearances of the season even though he eventually emerged unscathed. The right-hander has been battling his control for a couple weeks, posting a 5:8 K:BB over his last 6.1 innings despite a 0.00 ERA, and as a result, James Karinchak has gotten two saves to Clase's one over that stretch. The duo will likely continue mixing and matching in the ninth inning unless one of them completely falls apart.

Impact Clase was brought in for the hold in the eighth with manager Terry Francona opting to go with James Karinchak in the ninth for a second straight game. The 23-year-old Clase still leads the team with seven saves on the year but Karinchak's recent usage in the closer role suggests Francona may be leaning towards a timeshare, which would certainly not be ideal for both pitchers' fantasy stocks. He's also gone 7-for-8 in save chances, but James Karinchak could begin to chip away at Clase's closing duties should the latter falter.
