Struggles in Cards debut Fedde (7-5) took the loss Friday against the Cubs, allowing five runs on six hits over five innings. He struck out four. Impact All five runs charged to Fedde came in the second inning -- the right-hander allowed five hits in the frame, including a three-run Christian Bethancourt homer and an Ian Happ solo shot. While he was able to finish the outing on a high note, retiring the last 10 batters faced, it certainly wasn't the debut the Cards had in mind. The five runs charged match a season high for Fedde, who posted a 2.85 ERA over his final eight starts (47.1 innings) with the White Sox. Overall, the 31-year-old Fedde sports a 3.34 ERA with a 1.14 WHIP and 112:34 K:BB through 22 starts (126.2 innings) this season. He'll look for a better result in his next outing, tentatively scheduled for next week at home versus Tampa Bay.
