Impact Tuesday marks the first time Perez has done any sort of throwing since he underwent Tommy John surgery in April. He obviously has a lot more work to do before he's ready to return to a major-league mound, but it's certainly encouraging to see him making progress in the right direction. The 21-year-old righty is expected to rejoin the Marlins' rotation midway through the 2025 campaign.

He'll likely require a few more mound sessions before moving onto facing live hitters, and a minor-league rehab assignment should come after that.
