Out with concussion
Cervelli was placed on the 7-day concussion list after Saturday's doubleheader against the Nationals, Andre Fernandez of Sirius XM Radio reports.
Impact
Cervelli apparently took a shot to the head and was forced to exit Saturday's nightcap after two frames. Jorge Alfaro is off the injured list and should see the bulk of the starts behind the plate, but the Marlins will still need to add another catcher to the roster Sunday.

Makes early exit
Cervelli was removed from Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Nationals for undisclosed reasons, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Cervelli started behind the plate in Game 2 of the twin bill, but he was replaced in the field by Jorge Alfaro after flying out to right field during the second inning. The Marlins should update his status in the near future.

Heads to bench
Cervelli is not in Thursday's starting lineup against the Mets, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports.
Impact
Cervelli will give way to Ryan Lavarnway behind the dish for Thursday's series finale. The veteran backstop has appeared in 15 games this season and is slashing .250/.361/519 with four home runs and one steal.

Sitting out series finale
Cervelli is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Braves, Andre Fernandez of Sirius XM Radio reports.
Impact
Cervelli served as the Marlins' starting catcher in each of the past four games, going 3-for-15 with a home run, three walks, four runs, three RBI and a stolen base over that stretch. Ryan Lavarnway will spell him behind the dish in the series finale.

Launches game-tying homer
Cervelli went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run during Tuesday's extra-inning loss to the Blue Jays.
Impact
The 34-year-old was up to bat with two runners on and two out while trailing by three in the top of the ninth inning, and he went deep in a 3-0 count to tie the game. Unfortunately for Miami, it was all for naught as Toronto walked it off in the 10th inning. Cervelli has a .200/.250/.533 slash line with three homers and seven RBI through eight games this season.

Powers offense in win
Cervelli went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Friday's 4-3 win over the Mets.
Impact
The veteran catcher took Michael Wacha deep in the second inning to open the scoring. Cervelli isn't exactly thriving as the starting backstop for the Marlins, hitting .227 (5-for-22) through six games, but two of those hits have left the yard. Until Jorge Alfaro (illness) has a timetable for his return, Cervelli will continue to draw a heavy workload.

Swats first homer
Cervelli went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Orioles.
Impact
The veteran catcher took John Means deep in the fifth inning for the first run of the game -- and the eventual game-winning hit -- as well as his first homer of 2020. With Jorge Alfaro one of the many Marlins players on the COVID-19 injured list right now, Cervelli is locked in as Miami's starting backstop.

Out after positive test
Alfaro is on the injured list due to a positive COVID-19 test, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
Impact
He will need back-to-back negative tests to be cleared to rejoin the team. In addition to Alfaro, Jose Urena, Garrett Cooper and Harold Ramirez have also tested positive. Francisco Cervelli and Chad Wallach will handle the catching duties for now.
