Impact The only run against Peralta came on Freddie Freeman's first-inning solo homer, and the righty hurler allowed just one more hit while he was in the game. However, Peralta also tied a season high with four walks and needed 92 pitches (only 51 of which were strikes) to get through four frames. He's still working his way back from a lengthy absence due to a lat strain, but the short outing was more a result of inefficiency than any sort of innings limit. Peralta has given up five runs over 12.2 innings across three starts since his early August return to the rotation.

Impact Peralta made his first start since May 22 due to being sidelined with a lat injury. It didn't go as smoothly as he had hoped, since he was pulled before making it through the fourth inning after giving up a triple to Tucupita Marcano. However, Peralta did throw 67 pitches without any discomfort. It is a positive sign that he could be on his way to recapturing the success he found in 2021, when he posted an excellent 2.81 ERA and 0.97 WHIP with 195 strikeouts in 27 starts. Look for him to try and increase his workload in his next expected start against the Rays.

Impact Peralta stretched out to only 3.1 innings and 52 pitches over the course of his two minor-league rehab assignment, but the Brewers were satisfied enough with his results and with how he looked from a pure stuff standpoint to bring him back from the IL slightly sooner than originally expected. Though he'll pick up the start Wednesday, Peralta is unlikely to work more than five or six innings, but that could be enough for him to qualify for the win if the Brewers are able to get out to an early lead. The newly acquired Dinelson Lamet was designated for assignment to open up a spot on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster for Peralta, who will be making his first start for the Brewers since May 22.

Peralta isn't fully stretched out and may not immediately reclaim his spot in the starting rotation, and if that's the case he'll likely work in tandem with another pitcher for his first outing or two as he continues to build up his workload. He had a 4.42 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 50:13 K:BB across 38.2 innings (eight starts) before suffering the lat strain in late May.
