Swipes two bags Sunday Springer went 1-for-2 with a walk and two stolen bases in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays.

Impact There wasn't much offense from either team as the game ended in a 1-0 Tampa Bay win, but Springer did his best to generate some action on the basepaths. The 33-year-old has had a strong spring, going 11-for-37 (.297) with three homers and two steals, and after stealing 14 bags in 2022, MLB's new rules and bigger bases could allow Springer to top the 16 stolen bases he racked up back in 2015.

Recovered from elbow surgery Springer said Tuesday that he is fully recovered from October surgery to remove a bone spur from his right elbow, Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports.

Impact "It feels good to feel good," Springer told the gathered media at Blue Jays camp in Dunedin, Florida. The veteran outfielder also battled a concussion and a shoulder sprain in late 2022, among other previous issues, but he managed to log 583 regular-season plate appearances to the tune of an .814 OPS with 25 home runs and 14 stolen bases. Springer was banged up throughout 2022 but still played in 133 games and produced a .267/.342/.472 slash line with 25 home runs, 76 RBI, 89 runs and 14 stolen bases. The center fielder is expected to be fully recovered for the start of spring training in February.
