Alex Bregman - No long-term concern with elbow Bregman said Friday he slept on his elbow wrong and hopes to miss only "a few days" after tests showed no ligament damage, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact Bregman was kept out of the lineup for Friday's game against the White Sox with right elbow inflammation, giving fantasy managers quite the scare in the closing weeks of the fantasy season. The third baseman put to rest any worries of a long-term absence shortly after. Instead, Bregman is expected to only miss a few games, giving the swelling in his elbow time to subside. The 30-year-old is slashing .261/.318/.445 with 19 homers in 509 plate appearances.

Shay Whitcomb - Contract selected ahead of debut The Astros selected Whitcomb's contract from Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact Whitcomb has slashed .293/.378/.530 slash line in 108 games with Sugar Land this season, popping 25 home runs and stealing 26 bases along the way. He can play all over the infield and has also been used some in the outfield this year. Whitcomb could initially see his reps at third base with Alex Bregman (elbow) banged up, but first base is another option since it's been a weak spot for the Astros.

Alex Bregman - Battling elbow inflammation Bregman is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the White Sox due to swelling in the back of his right elbow, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Impact Bregman has been on a tear at the plate recently, logging multiple hits in six of his last eight games, but the hot streak will be but on pause as he tends to swelling in the elbow of his throwing arm. At this point, it's unclear how severe the injury is, but expect the Astros to err on the side of caution with the 30-year-old.

Impact The 25-year-old is one of the Astros' top prospects and has taken a major step forward at Triple-A this season with 25 homers, 26 steals and a .293/.378/.530 slash line in 108 games, which was apparently enough to earn him his first look in the big leagues. Whitcomb has seen most of his playing time at second base, third base and shortstop for Sugar Land, but he's seen action all across the field. Houston's major lineup hole is at first base, so Whitcomb is likely to see plenty of action there in addition to the corner outfield and designated hitter.
