Justin Dirden - Bumped up to Triple-AThe Astros promoted Dirden from Double-A Corpus Christi to Triple-A Sugar Land on Monday.
ImpactSugar Land had an opening in the outfield after the Astros recently dealt Jose Siri to the Rays, and Dirden was summoned from Double-A to fill the void. After going undrafted in 2020 and not making his professional debut until 2021 on account of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dirden has rocketed through the Astros' system and put himself on the radar in dynasty leagues in the process. The 25-year-old outfielder has been one of the more productive hitters in the Texas League in 2022, slashing .324/.411/.616 with 20 home runs and seven stolen bases across 407 plate appearances.

George Valera - Elevated to Triple-AThe Guardians promoted Valera from Double-A Akron to Triple-A Columbus on Monday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
ImpactCleveland recently bumped up two of its top position prospects (Tyler Freeman and Will Benson) from Triple-A to the majors, so Valera will move up a level to help Columbus fill one of the vacancies in its everyday lineup. The 22-year-old lefty-hitting outfielder supplied a .264/.367/.470 slash line to go with 15 home runs and two stolen bases in 387 plate appearances for Akron this season.

Kyle Tucker - Makes cameo off benchTucker (illness) appeared off the bench in Sunday's 1-0 loss to the Guardians, drawing a walk in his lone plate appearance.
ImpactTucker was out of the lineup for a fourth straight game due to an illness, but he showed enough improvement from Saturday to be available as a bench option for the series finale. After coming on as a pinch hitter in the top of the eighth, Tucker played an inning in right field. He'll likely be ready to rejoin the lineup when the Astros return to action Tuesday against the Rangers.

Lance McCullers Jr. - Goes five innings in rehab startMcCullers (forearm) struck out five over five innings and allowed five runs on seven hits -- including two home runs -- and three walks in his rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Suga...
ImpactMaking what was expected to be the fourth and final start of his minor-league rehab assignment, McCullers probably wasn't as sharp as the Astros envisioned, but he was at least able to get stretched out to five innings and 86 pitches Sunday. Assuming the Astros were satisfied with how McCullers checked out physically following the outing, he should be cleared to come off the 60-day injured list to make his next start with Houston, which is expected to move to a six-man rotation to accommodate him. He tentatively lines up to make his 2022 debut for the big club this weekend against the Athletics at Minute Maid Park.
