Michael A. Taylor - On base three timesTaylor went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Sunday's 7-4 loss to the Astros.
ImpactTaylor missed about two weeks on the COVID-19 injured list, and he went 0-for-4 in his return to the Royals' lineup Saturday. He was able to produce a bit more Sunday in his second straight start. The light-hitting outfielder has a .241/.336/.333 slash line, two home runs, 12 RBI, 15 runs scored and no stolen bases through 125 plate appearances this year. With Taylor healthy and patrolling center field again, Kyle Isbel is likely to see reduced playing time, especially since Whit Merrifield and Hunter Dozier have drawn more starts lately in right field.

Salvador Perez - Homers in back-to-back gamesPerez went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, three RBI and a walk in Sunday's 7-4 loss to the Astros.
ImpactPerez seems to be pulling out of his slump, as he's posted multiple extra-base hits in each of his last two games on the heels of a 1-for-23 skid. The catcher took Framber Valdez deep in the sixth inning and added an RBI double in the eighth in Sunday's loss. Perez is now slashing .199/.240/.404 with eight homers, 22 RBI, 17 runs scored and 10 doubles through 42 contests. It's the first time his slugging percentage has been over .400 since May 15.

Jonathan Heasley - Takes loss in quality startHeasley (0-3) took the loss Sunday versus the Astros, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts in six innings.
ImpactHeasley didn't help his own cause much -- he hit one batter and added a pair of wild pitches, one of which led to the Astros' second run. The right-hander has posted consecutive quality starts, but he remains on the search for his first win of the season. He's at a 4.62 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 15:18 K:BB across 25.1 innings in five starts. Sunday was a step in the right direction in terms of limiting walks, as he allowed three or more in his other four outings. He'll try to find more control in a home start versus the Orioles next week.

Kyle Tucker - Homers in winTucker went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, two RBI, two runs scored and a pair of walks in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Royals.
ImpactTucker has hit safely in his last five games, but Sunday marked his first multi-hit effort in that span. He went yard in the fourth inning and added an RBI single in the Astros' three-run ninth. The outfielder is up to a .247/.348/.453 slash line with nine long balls, 31 RBI, 20 run scored and nine stolen bases through 49 contests. He's started four straight games in right field since overcoming a minor foot injury, so the 25-year-old should be considered a near-everyday player.

Yordan Alvarez - Double shy of cycleAlvarez went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a triple and three runs scored in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Royals.
ImpactAlvarez continues to rack up hits at a rapid rate -- he's 17-for-35 (.486) in his last nine games with six extra-base hits in that span. He came up a double shy of the cycle Sunday, which was his second three-hit effort in his last three games. For the season, he's batting .295 with a 1.015 OPS while adding 16 homers, 34 RBI, 35 runs scored, five doubles and two triples through 201 plate appearances.

Rafael Montero - Nabs save SundayMontero retired the only batter he faced to secure the save in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Royals.
ImpactFollowing Ryan Pressly's ejection for throwing inside and Phil Maton's inability to retire any of the three batters he faced, Montero was able to end a bases-loaded threat. He got Nicky Lopez to ground out to end the game. This was Montero's fourth save of the year, but his first since May 6. He's posted a 2.08 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 24:5 K:BB across 21.2 innings while adding six holds this season. Should Pressly face a suspension for his actions Sunday, Montero figures to be favored for potential save chances.

Framber Valdez - Winning streak at five startsValdez (6-2) earned the win Sunday over the Royals. He allowed two runs on four hits and three walks with five strikeouts in six innings.
ImpactValdez didn't give up any runs until his last inning, yielding a two-run home run to Salvador Perez. This was Valdez's fifth straight win, and he's only allowed multiple runs in two of those outings. The southpaw has a 2.61 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 55:25 K:BB across 69 innings in 11 starts this year. He lines up for a home start versus the Marlins next weekend.
