Jeremy Peña looks the part and other takeaways from the Astros' season-opening series winIf Jeremy Peña develops into a star or even a reliable longtime regular, this series will be remembered for it being his start.

Tyler Ivey - Outrighted to Triple-AIvey cleared waivers Sunday and was outrighted to Triple-A Sugar Land, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ImpactAfter being designated for assignment by the Astros on Friday, Ivey will remain in the organization. The righty made four appearances (three starts) in Sugar Land last year and posted a 4.91 ERA and 2.00 WHIP in 11 innings.

Joe Perez - Optioned to Double-APerez was optioned to Double-A Corpus Christi on Sunday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ImpactPerez made his major-league debut Friday against the Angels and went 0-for-1 with a strikeout while serving as a pinch hitter. Yuli Gurriel will likely return from the paternity list ahead of Tuesday's game in Arizona, so Perez will head back to the minors, where he's in line for additional playing time.

Jeremy Peña - Three more hitsPena went 3-for-5 with a double and a run in a 4-1 win against the Angels on Sunday.
ImpactThat's now three hits on two occasions for the young shortstop, who doubled in the first inning, singled in the third and singled and scored in the eighth. Though the move was most likely due to veterans Jose Altuve and Michael Brantley receiving a rest day, manager Dusty Baker expressed confidence in Pena by moving him up to the No. 2 spot in the order for Sunday's game.

Ryan Pressly - Secures second savePressly picked up the save in Sunday's 4-1 victory over the Angels, striking out one in a clean ninth inning.
ImpactPressly struck out Jo Adell on five pitches before retiring the next two Angels on consecutive pitches for an easy save. If he stays healthy, the 33-year-old is well on his way to surpassing a career-high 26 saves from 2021 as the clear-cut best option for saves on a Houston team with high expectations.

José Suarez - Suffers first lossSuarez (0-1) was handed the loss during Sunday's 4-1 defeat by Houston, allowing two runs on two hits and four walks with two strikeouts in 4.1 innings.
ImpactSuarez was able to escape a bases-loaded one-out jam in the third but didn't have as much luck in the fifth inning, when reliever Austin Warren allowed both inherited runners to score and put Suarez in line for the loss. Manager Joe Maddon is reluctant to let Suarez through opponents' orders a third time as he's only reached six innings in one of 15 starts over the past two seasons, which severely limits his upside. The 24-year-old lefty is slated to take the hill next Sunday in Texas.

José Urquidy - Wins 2022 debutUrquidy (1-0) registered the victory in Sunday's 4-1 triumph over the Angels, allowing one run on four hits with two strikeouts across five innings.
ImpactUrquidy surrendered the lone run on a Jack Mayfield solo shot in the second inning and was able to escape trouble in third when Kyle Tucker threw out Tyler Wade at the plate to end the inning. He was efficient, needing just 72 pitches to navigate five frames, but manager Dusty Baker opted to pull the righty rather than have him go through the order for a third time. The 26-year-old looks to build on a strong 2021 and 2022 debut in his next start in Seattle on Sunday.
