Jake Odorizzi - Bumped from Friday's startOdorizzi will no longer start Friday's game against the Athletics, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ImpactIt's still possible that Odorizzi will draw a start during the weekend series, as the Astros have not named starters for Saturday or Sunday. Jose Urquidy will start Friday in Odorizzi's place.

Reid Detmers - Decent in no-decisionDetmers allowed two runs on five hits, three walks and a hit batter while striking out six over six innings in a no-decision versus the Astros on Thursday.
ImpactDetmers wasn't as dominant as he was versus the Orioles last Friday, but he still turned in his second straight quality start and his third such effort of the season. The 23-year-old southpaw limited the damage Thursday to the first inning, allowing four baserunners and both runs in the opening frame before settling in. He now has a 4.11 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 57:25 K:BB across 70 innings in 14 starts this season. Detmers won't pitch again until after the All-Star break, but his recent performance makes it seem likely he'll be in the rotation when play resumes, especially if the Angels go back to rolling six starters.

José Urquidy - Starting FridayUrquidy will start Friday against the Athletics, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ImpactUrquidy was originally slated to start Sunday's game, but instead, he'll bump Jake Odorizzi from Friday's game. Urquidy has pitched very well of late, maintaining a 2.45 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and a 22:8 K:BB across his last 33 innings and five starts.

Ryan Pressly - Collects third winPressly (3-2) threw two scoreless innings and struck out three to earn the win in Thursday's extra-inning victory over the Angels.
ImpactPressly kept the game tied at 2-2 in the ninth inning and then protected a one-run lead in the 10th. A passed ball in the extra frame put the tying run 90 feet from scoring, but Pressly was able to get the job done. He's thrown eight innings without permitting a baserunner (outside of extra-inning ghost runners) in his last seven appearances. The Astros' closer trimmed his ERA to 3.00 with a 0.96 WHIP and 29:8 K:BB across 27 innings this year. He's 19-for-22 in save chances and continues to have a strong grip on ninth-inning duties.

Framber Valdez - Submits quality start ThursdayValdez allowed two runs on six hits, three walks and a hit batter while striking out six over six innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Thursday.
ImpactValdez was a little shaky with his command, issuing a bases-loaded walk in the third inning and allowing a run to score on a passed ball in the fourth. He also threw a wild pitch. Despite those obvious mistakes, he was able to post his 15th consecutive quality start, though he's now gone three outings without a win. Valdez owns a 2.66 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 102:43 K:BB across 115 innings in 18 starts overall. He's done well to limit runs and pitch deep into games, which earned him a trip to the All-Star Game in Los Angeles next week.
