Kenta Maeda - Good to go MondayMaeda (arm) is listed as the Twins' probable starting pitcher for Monday's game against the White Sox at Target Field.
ImpactMaeda's inclusion on the pitching schedule to begin the Twins' seven-game week is an indication that he's feeling fine after he exited his most recent start last Tuesday against the Marlins due to right arm fatigue. In spite of the issue, Maeda turned in a gem in his 2023 debut, limiting Miami to one run one three hits and no walks while striking out nine over five innings. Maeda is lined up for a two-start week, with his second turn expected to come Saturday in New York versus the Yankees.

Michael Brantley - Aiming for early May returnAstros general manager Dana Brown said Sunday that he's hopeful that Brantley (shoulder) will be ready to return from the 10-day injured list around the first week of May, Chandler...
ImpactWhen spring training ended in late March, Brantley stayed behind at the Astros' camp in Florida to continue his rehab from the right shoulder labrum repair surgery he underwent last August. Brantley hasn't hit any reported snags while he continues to ramp up in Florida, but he still has yet to play in any simulated games. Once he's deemed ready for game action, Brantley will likely require multiple games at camp or at a minor-league affiliate before he's formally reinstated from the IL. The Astros have been rotating a number of players at the designated-hitter spot for the first week and a half of the season while Brantley has been on the shelf.

Joey Gallo - Remains out SundayGallo (side) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.
ImpactGallo will take a seat for the second day in a row following his removal from Friday's 3-2 win over Houston with right side soreness. Twins manager Rocco Baldelli revealed Saturday that Gallo went through an MRI that revealed nothing concerning, so for the time being, the 29-year-old slugger is being viewed as day-to-day and appears likely to avoid a stint on the injured list. Matt Wallner will pick up his first start of the season Sunday in Gallo's stead, filling in as the Twins' right fielder and No. 7 hitter.
