Eli White - Surgery completedWhite underwent surgery on his right wrist Tuesday in Arlington, Texas and is expected to remain sidelined for 6-to-8 weeks before resuming baseball activities, Levi Weaver of The...
ImpactHis surgery was overseen by Dr. Paul Hovis and involved the insertion of two screws into the distal radius bone in his right wrist. Since the 6-to-8-week timeline is a projection for when White will be able to resume baseball activities, he'll likely need at least an additional two weeks beyond that to regain conditioning and his timing at the plate before the Rangers are comfortable activating him from the IL. With that in mind, White appears unlikely to rejoin the Rangers until September.

Jason Castro - Starts for while Maldonado restsCastro will start at catcher and bat eighth in Tuesday's game against the Rangers.
ImpactCastro will get his second start in three games, but he doesn't seem to be encroaching on No. 1 catcher Martin Maldonado's role in any dramatic way. In order to do so, Castro may need to pick up the pace at the plate, where he's been a major disappointment after supplying a .799 OPS across 179 plate appearances in 2021. He enters Tuesday's contest with a .102/.206/.136 slash line and has struck out in a whopping 45.6 percent of his plate appearances.

Héctor Neris - Serving three-game banNeris will begin serving a three-game suspension starting with Tuesday's contest against the Rangers after the ban was reduced from four games following an appeal, Chandler Rome of...
ImpactThe reliever's suspension stems from MLB having deemed that he intentionally threw at the Mariners' Eugenio Suarez during the Astros' 7-4 loss to Seattle on June 7. Neris will miss the final two games of the Astros' series in Texas along with Friday's series opener against the White Sox before he's eligible to return Saturday.

Martín Maldonado - Heads back to benchMaldonado will sit Tuesday against the Rangers.
ImpactMaldonado finds himself on the bench for the second time in three games. While he's handled a heavy workload behind the plate for most of this season, the Astros' tolerance of his poor bat in exchange for his strong defense may be waning. He's hitting .150/.221/.271 on the year. Jason Castro will take over behind the plate.
