Dee Strange-Gordon - Starts over Escobar againStrange-Gordon will start at shortstop and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Marlins, Matt Weyrich of NBC Sports Washington reports.
ImpactFor the second time in three games, Strange-Gordon will draw the nod at shortstop over Alcides Escobar with a right-handed starter (Sandy Alcantara) on the mound. Though Strange-Gordon bats from the left side while Escobar hits from the right side, it's unclear if manager Dave Martinez will opt for a platoon between the two players, as Escobar drew the start in Sunday's 8-0 loss against Houston right-hander Justin Verlander. Instead, Martinez may be inclined to ride the hotter bat between Escobar and Strange-Gordon, who has gone 5-for-23 with no extra-base hits since being reinstated from the injured list earlier this month.

Alcides Escobar - Losing work at shortstopEscobar is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins, Matt Weyrich of NBC Sports Washington reports.
ImpactSince shaking off a finger injury and returning to the lineup Friday, Escobar will sit for the second time in three contests. He may have moved into a timeshare at shortstop with Dee Strange-Gordon, who picks up the starting nod Monday. Manager Dave Martinez will likely be inclined to ride the hotter bat of the two players moving forward.

Jeremy Peña - Going through workoutsPena (knee) went through baseball activities in front of the Astros coaching staff and training staff Monday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ImpactPena has been dealing with a sore right knee and hasn't played since Thursday. His extensive workout seems to a test of whether he's ready to play Monday against the Red Sox, with a trip to the injured list potentially in play if it looks like he'll still need several more days to recover.

Aaron Sanchez - Cleared to start MondaySanchez (hand) is listed as the Nationals' starting pitcher for Monday's series opener in Miami.
ImpactDuring his most recent start May 11 against the Mets, Sanchez dealt with what manager Dave Martinez called a bone bruise on his non-throwing hand. Fortunately for Sanchez, the injury doesn't look like it'll be anything that affects him in his field, so he'll stay on turn in the rotation for his fifth start with Washington. Through his first four outings, Sanchez has posted a 7.58 ERA and 1.42 WHIP across 19 innings.
