Exits after HBP Happ was removed from Saturday's game against the Brewers in the bottom of the seventh inning after he was hit by a pitch on his left knee, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.

Impact Happ remained down for several minutes after being hit by the pitch, but he was ultimately able to walk off under his own power. He was productive prior to his departure, as he went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI and a walk. If the 27-year-old is forced to miss time, Clint Frazier should see additional at-bats.

Impact Happ batted cleanup and did his job by powering the Chicago offense. The 27-year-old can certainly be a dynamic hitter, though strikeouts have slowed him down in the past, so it was good to see Happ without any strikeouts Thursday. If he can make more consistent contact, a big season could be on tap.

Impact Happ was previously limited to working as the designated hitter while making his way back from February elbow surgery, but he's now been cleared to play the outfield. The 27-year-old appears to be in the clear for Opening Day and should have a starting spot in the outfield.

Hoyer added that Happ hasn't been affected at the plate since going under the knife, so even if the 27-year-old switch-hitter isn't able to complete his throwing program in time for Opening Day, he could still break camp with the club and serve as a designated hitter to begin the season. Happ's swing-and-miss tendencies will likely make his a major batting-average risk, but he should remain a strong source of counting stats after producing 25 home runs, 66 RBI, 63 runs and nine stolen bases over 148 games in 2021.
