Agrees to record-breaking extension Chourio and the Brewers are expected to finalize an eight-year contract extension worth nearly $80 million Thursday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Impact The deal, which also includes two team options, is the largest contract ever for a player who has yet to reach the majors, easily topping Luis Robert's six-year, $50 million pact. Chourio, 19, began the 2023 season at Double-A Biloxi and finished it at Triple-A Nashville, slashing .283/.338/.467 with 22 home runs and 44 stolen bases between the two stops. The feeling is that this agreement greatly enhances Chourio's chances of being on the Brewers' Opening Day roster, if not cinching them.

To return to Triple-A in 2024 Chourio will open the 2024 season with Triple-A Nashville, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact "It's hard to put a timetable on it for a 19-year-old," general manager Matt Arnold said Tuesday, "but he has a chance to be really special." McCalvy doesn't have a quote to corroborate his definitive sentence about Chourio returning to Triple-A, but given the Brewers' outfield depth chart, it makes sense. Christian Yelich, Sal Frelick, Garrett Mitchell, Joey Wiemer and Tyrone Taylor are all under club control, and Milwaukee probably wouldn't want to have Chourio on the big-league roster in a part-time role.

Elevated to Triple-A The Brewers promoted Chourio from Double-A Biloxi to Triple-A Nashville on Monday.
Impact Chourio will join Milwaukee's top affiliate after he ended Double-A Biloxi's season on a high note this weekend, recording at least one hit while getting on base at a .375 clip over his final nine starts. Altogether, the 19-year-old outfielder slashed .280/.336/.467 with 22 home runs and 42 stolen bases across 559 plate appearances for Biloxi. He'll join Nashville for the final week of its regular season and will look to build momentum for a spot on the Brewers' 2024 Opening Day roster.

Putting power on display Chourio went 12-for-23 (.522) with three home runs, three doubles, six RBI and a 1:2 BB:K over his last five games with Double-A Biloxi.
Impact Chourio owned a .699 OPS as recently as July 5, but thanks to his recent surge that number is all the way up to .764. Chourio has been a bit streaky in his first full season at the Double-A level, but he has now racked up 13 homers, 16 doubles and 22 stolen bases over 75 games -- and he still will not turn 20 years old until next March.

Getting going again Chourio went 18-for-62 (.290) with three home runs, four doubles, 13 RBI, seven steals and a 4:14 BB:K over his last 15 games with Double-A Biloxi.
Impact Chourio had trouble making contact for much of May, but he picked up the pace at the end of the month, and thanks to his recent run his OPS is back up to .713. While there is room for growth in that department, Chourio is making noise on the basepaths, having already matched his 2022 total with 16 steals while being caught only twice.

Racking up hits at Double-A Chourio went 26-for-81 (.321) with two home runs, 13 RBI, nine steals and a 7:16 BB:K over his last 20 games with Double-A Biloxi.
Impact Chourio had trouble making contact against Double-A pitchers after first reaching the level, but his recent run suggests he has figured them out. Chourio will not turn 20 years old until March of 2024, and he remains one of the best -- if not the best -- prospects in all of baseball.
