Impact Though the Athletics are opposing a right-hander (German Marquez) in the series finale, the lefty-hitting Lamb will take a seat after two straight turns as Oakland's designated hitter. He thrived at the dish in his first two games with the club, going 3-for-7 with a home run, two doubles and three runs scored. Expect Lamb to continue to see steady work against right-handed pitching for the remainder of the regular season, and likely the playoffs as well if Chad Pinder (hamstring) is still sidelined.

Impact Making his Oakland debut, Lamb took Brady Lail deep in the sixth inning for the final run of the day, and his first homer of the year. The 29-year-old figures to get semi-consistent work between third base and DH with Matt Chapman (hip) on the shelf, but Lamb's .380 OPS in 50 plate appearances for Arizona this season prior to being DFA'd last week isn't encouraging from a fantasy standpoint.

Impact Lamb had gotten just one start this month and is hitting .116 with zero home runs and a 34 percent strikeout rate in 43 at-bats. It's quite possible he will catch on elsewhere for a two-week audition down the stretch. Pavin Smith will take his place on the active roster.

Impact The Diamondbacks gave Lamb what is becoming an increasingly rare start the day before the trade deadline. It was his third start in eight games, and he's hitless in all three (0-for-8). He's a pending free agent and a prime candidate to be traded Monday, although his .100/.217/.125 does not make Lamb an attractive target.
