Returns from paternity leave Diekman was activated from the paternity leave list by the Rays on Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact Diekman missed the first three games of the series against the Blue Jays but is back for the finale. Ben Heller was optioned in a corresponding move.

Signs on with Tampa Bay Diekman signed a one-year contract with the Rays on Wednesday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.
Impact The deal had reportedly been imminent and has now been made official. Diekman will provide the Rays with another left-handed relief option in the wake of Garrett Cleavinger's (knee) season-ending injury. He had just a 7.94 ERA and 2.12 WHIP before being released by the White Sox, but we can't rule out the Rays working some magic with him.

Signing with Rays Diekman and the Rays are finalizing a major-league contract Tuesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Impact After being released by the White Sox on Saturday, Diekman could quickly find a new home with Tampa Bay. The left-hander struggled to an abysmal 7.94 ERA and 2.12 WHIP with 11 strikeouts over 11.1 innings in 13 appearances with Chicago this season. Diekman has not officially signed with the Rays quite yet, but if he does finalize a deal, he'd help replace Garrett Cleavinger (knee) in the bullpen.
