Begins rehab assignment Fraley (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday, Corey Brock of The Athletic reports.

Impact Fraley will serve as the designated hitter in Saturday's game in Tacoma, and he's slated to play the field Sunday. If he feels good after each appearance, the 26-year-old will be in consideration to rejoin the major-league club as early as Monday against the Red Sox.

Impact Fraley recently began swinging a bat again, and although there were reports earlier in the week he was dealing with some discomfort, he's apparently been making progress since then. A rehab assignment with the Rainiers would likely be of short duration when considering his time on the shelf only dates back to Aug. 27.

Impact Divish says Fraley could return for the upcoming homestand, which begins Friday. He has been out since Aug. 27 with a shoulder injury. Fraley has had stretches of being highly productive this season, but he hit just .172/.254/.297 with two home runs and two steals in 64 August at-bats.

The 26-year-old has been sidelined since Aug. 28 with inflammation in his right shoulder, and while the Mariners don't miss his unsightly .213 average and .388 slugging percentage, his .359 on-base percentage would certainly be welcome down the stretch as the team makes its surprising postseason push.
