Pirates say Jake Marisnick will require thumb surgery; full Roberto Perez prognosis looming Outfielder Jake Marisnick will be out for at least several weeks, as he’s set to undergo UCL surgery on his left thumb.

Impact Marisnick landed on the injured list Tuesday after sustaining his thumb injury during Monday's matchup against the Dodgers. The 31-year-old doesn't have a timetable for his return, but he'll presumably require more than the minimum of 10 days on the IL. Prior to his injury, Marisnick had hit .163 with two doubles, five runs, an RBI and a stolen base over 22 games.

Impact Right-handed pitcher Max Kranick was summoned from Triple-A Indianapolis to join the 26-man active roster as a replacement for Marisnick, who injured his left thumb in Monday's 5-1 win over the Dodgers. Marisnick has served as a short-side platoon outfielder for Pittsburgh this season, seeing action in 22 games while hitting .163/.196/.204 across 52 plate appearances.
