Big-league success still elusive After recording a single in each of the first three games of his second big-league stint, Kelenic is 0-for-14 over his last four contests.

Impact Kelenic went right back to looking the part of prized prospect when he received a demotion to Triple-A Tacoma in early June, posting a .333/.419/.678 slash line with eight doubles, a triple and seven home runs over his last 22 games with the Rainiers before a promotion July 17. However, Kelenic is still getting fooled nearly half the time against big-league pitching, as he sports a massive 48.1 percent strikeout rate across the 27 plate appearances he's logged over his first seven contests back. It's a small sample, but his plate discipline actually appears to have regressed -- Kelenic went down on strikes at a still-elevated but more acceptable 28.3 percent clip over his first 92 big-league plate appearances earlier in the season.

While the 22-year-old struggled to a .096/.185/.193 slash line during his initial stint with the big club, he hit .306/.386/.622 with seven long balls in his 24 games back in Tacoma. Kelenic seems likely to get everyday playing time going forward.

Impact Kelenic's .096/.185/.193 line from his 23-game debut earlier in the season serves as a useful reminder of the significant risk that comes with all prospects, even highly touted ones. That's not nearly a long enough stretch that it should knock too much of the shine off one of the game's brightest young talents, however. The 22-year-old outfielder hit .306/.386/.622 with seven homers in 24 games following his early-June demotion back to Tacoma, setting him up to meet expectations this time around. Perhaps most significantly, he struck out in just 14.9 percent of his plate appearances over that time, well below the 28.3 percent strikeout rate he posted in his first taste of the big leagues.

Impact There was speculation that Kelenic's call-up could be coming in the near future since he didn't report to Triple-A Tacoma following the Futures Game, and general manager Jerry Dipoto confirmed the news Thursday. Although the 21-year-old had a disappointing .096/.185/.193 slash line in 23 major-league games earlier in the year, he's been dominant in the minors and slashed .360/.429/.680 with a home run, five doubles, five RBI and four runs in six Triple-A games in July. Kelenic mainly hit at the top of the order in his first big-league stint, and he should see plenty of playing time in Seattle's outfield going forward.

Although Kelenic had a disappointing start to his major-league career earlier in the season, he should see plenty of time in the Mariners' outfield once he's officially back on the roster.
