The right-hander only threw 50 pitches in his first major-league start, but he was able to hold the Orioles scoreless to begin the game. Mejia could remain in the rotation while Zach Plesac (thumb) is on the injured list. If he makes another start, he tentatively lines up to do so on the road against the Cardinals on Wednesday.

Impact The 24-year-old was unable to secure a spot on the Opening Day roster but will join Cleveland six weeks into the season with the chance to make his major-league debut. Mejia started two games at Triple-A this season and allowed two runs on six hits with 10 strikeouts and five walks over nine innings.
