García hits grand slam in Marlins' 4-2 win over Brewers

Avisaíl García came off the injured list and hit a grand slam in the eighth inning in the Miami Marlins’ 4-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday night

Optioned to Triple-A Encarnacion was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Impact Encarnacion lost out on playing time recently, as he was in the lineup for just three of the last 15 games. He'll lose his spot on the active roster as part of a move after Avisail Garcia (hamstring) was reinstated from the injured list and Jesus Sanchez was called up Thursday.

Impact Encarnacion knocked in Jordan Groshans on his fourth-inning shot to tie the game. It was Encarnacion's third home run of the season and his first since Sep. 2. The rookie has struggled to find consistency of late, going hitless in his prior three games. This month, Encarnacion has gone 5-for-32 with 16 strikeouts and two walks, dropping his batting average below the Mendoza line to .188.

Called up, starting Friday Encarnacion was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville and will start in left field and bat ninth Friday against the Dodgers, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Impact Encarnacion was promoted for his MLB debut in June and went 1-for-8 with a grand slam and a stolen base in two games before being sent back to Jacksonville, and he'll now rejoin the Marlins. The 24-year-old could receive regular opportunities in the outfield with Jorge Soler (back), Avisail Garcia (hamstring) and Garrett Cooper (concussion) on the injured list.

Impact The 24-year-old outfielder was one of four players demoted to minor-league camp in the Marlins' latest round of roster cuts. Encarnacion will move up a level to begin the 2022 campaign after he spent the majority of the 2021 season at Double-A Pensacola, where he slashed .222/.308/.400 with nine home runs and five stolen bases over 260 plate appearances.
