Picks up first save Curtiss picked up his first save in Sunday's 5-4 win over Toronto, allowing no hits and no walks in 1.2 scoreless innings. He did not record a strikeout.

Impact Curtiss has demonstrated great versatility of late, picking up his first career save just three days after serving as the team's opener. The right-hander wasn't able to pick up any strikeouts, but he retired each of the five Jays he faced. With Nick Anderson (forearm) landing on the 10-day injured list earlier Sunday, Curtiss could see more save opportunities moving forward.

Impact Curtiss's lone run allowed came on a Luke Voit homer in the first. The right-hander retired the first batter he faced in the second, but was pulled after allowing a walk and single in consecutive at-bats. Curtiss, who has an ERA of 3.52, remains an option to open games going forward.

Opening Thursday Curtiss will serve as the opener Thursday against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Impact The 27-year-old has yet to pitch in the series, but he'll take the mound for the start of the series finale. Curtiss has a 2.84 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 7:0 K:BB through 6.1 innings this season, and he's likely to be followed by Trevor Richards in the bulk role.

Impact Andrew Kittredge (elbow) was the listed opener but only lasted two batters before coming out of the game, and Curtiss was the next man up for the Rays. The 27-year-old then got credit for his first MLB win when Tampa pushed across a couple of early runs against Martin Perez. Curtiss has now tossed 4.2 innings over two appearances since being added to the roster Sunday, finding success with a 1.93 ERA and 5:0 K:BB.
