Rejoins big club Arauz was recalled from Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
Impact The 23-year-old made Boston's Opening Day roster and appeared in five games before landing on the COVID-19 injured list, and he was sent to Worcester once activated. Arauz is hitless through nine plate appearances and had a .643 OPS in 28 contests for the Red Sox in 2021.

Reinstated, sent down Arauz (illness) was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list and optioned to Triple-A Worcester on Thursday.
Impact Arauz had been on the COVID-19 IL since April 19, but he began a rehab assignment in Worcester at the beginning of May. He hit .125 with a double, four runs, three walks and three strikeouts over seven rehab games, and he'll remain with the minor-league club now that he's fully healthy. However, he'll be an option to rejoin the Red Sox as infield depth at some point.

Heads to COVID-19 IL The Red Sox placed Arauz on the COVID-19-related injured list Tuesday.
Impact Boston is dealing with a minor COVID-19 outbreak to close out its homestand. After catcher Kevin Plawecki tested positive for the virus Monday along with two staff members, backstop Christian Vazquez and Arauz were added to the COVID-19 IL on Tuesday. Arauz had previously made three consecutive starts at second base from April 10 through 12, but he's seen limited action off the bench in the subsequent five games after Trevor Story shook off an illness. Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe notes that Arauz is vaccinated, so he'll be eligible to join the Red Sox for next week's series in Toronto if he clears MLB's testing protocol in timely fashion.
