Chance to keep playing time Beck went 0-for-4 with a stolen base Tuesday against the Athletics.

Impact Beck has been a regular starter since being promoted April 30, though it appeared that his playing time would be squeezed with the returns of Kris Bryant and Nolan Jones (back/knee). However, Jones suffered a setback on his rehab assignment and Sean Bouchard was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque to make room for Bryant to be activated. That keeps the door open for Beck to maintain regular playing time, though he has just a .212/.212/.348 line across his first 66 plate appearances in the majors.

Ready for Double-A Beck was promoted from High-A Spokane to Double-A Hartford.

Impact This was a necessary promotion for Beck, who was too old (22) and talented to be playing at High-A anymore. He slashed .292/.378/.566 with 20 home runs and 11 steals in 76 games for Spokane. Beck posted a solid 20.8 percent strikeout rate at High-A but has struck out five times in his first nine plate appearances for the Yard Goats.

Impressive hard-hit rate at High-A Beck is hitting .267 with 13 home runs, two steals and a 50 percent hard-hit rate in 43 games for High-A Spokane.

Impact The No. 38 overall pick in last year's draft out of Tennessee, Beck is playing half his games in a very favorable park in Spokane, but he actually has better numbers on the road (.341/.415/.695 slash line). His hard-hit rate is elite and his 24.3 percent strikeout rate is a passable mark for a player with his game power. At 22 years old, Beck could use a challenge via a promotion this summer to Double-A.
