Signs with ChiSox Holloway signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox on Wednesday.

Impact Holloway opted out of his minor-league deal with the Cubs on Saturday, and he has now latched on with Chicago's other organization. The 27-year-old reliever missed the first two months of the season in Triple-A with an oblique injury, and he's surrendered eight earned runs across 6.1 innings since his return.

Impact Holloway had been sidelined since spring training after suffering a moderate right oblique strain during a Cactus League appearance. The right-hander was cleared to begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Myrtle Beach on May 19 and was advanced to Iowa after striking out nine and giving up just one earned run across 5.1 innings with the lower-level affiliate.

Outrighted off roster Holloway (elbow) was activated off the 60-day injured list and outrighted to Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Impact Holloway underwent arthroscopic elbow surgery in early August. The transaction doesn't mean he's now healthy -- it just means he'll continue his recovery while no longer a member of the 40-man roster. He only made a single appearance at the big-league level this season and only threw 23.2 innings in the minors, spending most of the season on the shelf.
