Headed for big leagues Devers was recalled by the Marlins on Thursday.

Impact The Marlins placed Brian Anderson (oblique) on the 10-day injured list Thursday and are also without Garrett Cooper (groin) for the time being. As a result, Devers will get his first call to the majors. His last official game action was with High-A Jupiter, so his adjustment to the big-league level could take some time.

Bound for minor-league camp The Marlins optioned Devers to their minor-league camp Tuesday, Ethan Budowsky of FishStripes.com reports.

Impact The 21-year-old shortstop is expected to open the season at Double-A Pensacola or Triple-A Jacksonville. Devers previously split time between the rookie-ball, Low-A and High-A levels during his last minor-league season in 2019, producing a collective .322/.391/.390 slash line in 47 games.
