Impact While filling a traditional starting role his last time out June 4 in Texas, Fleming gave up a season-high five runs and 10 hits while working seven innings in the loss, snapping a four-game winning streak in the process. The Rays are hopeful that by pitching behind Wacha, Fleming will be able to churn out better results, even though he'll likely be in store for fewer innings. Fleming still projects to work longer than any Rays pitcher Sunday, making him the most likely candidate to factor into any decision.

Roughed up by Rangers Fleming (5-4) took the loss Friday, coughing up five runs on 10 hits over seven innings as the Rays were downed 5-4 by the Rangers. He struck out two without walking a batter.

Impact The lefty wasn't hit particularly hard, as only two of the 10 hits went for extra bases including a Joey Gallo solo shot in the fifth inning, but Fleming still came out on the wrong end of the decision in his longest outing of the year. He'll take a 3.44 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 30:12 K:BB through 52.1 innings into his next appearance.

Impact Though the Rays will be activating one of their Opening Day rotation members in Wacha from the injured list, the right-hander apparently isn't built up to handle a traditional starting role coming off a three-week absence. As such, Fleming is expected to cover the majority of the innings Sunday in what marks his first appearance in a week. Fleming turned in his best outing of the season last weekend against the Mets, striking out five and allowing just one baserunner over five scoreless frames en route to capturing his third win of the season.
