Reaches deal with White Sox Harrison signed a one-year, $5.5 million contract with the White Sox on Saturday which includes a team option for a second season, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. Impact Harrison offers positional versatility and a decent bat, as he hit .279/.341/.400 last season while playing every position except catcher and first base. He could spend the majority of his time in Chicago at second base, where the similar but slightly worse Leury Garcia had looked like the top option. If Harrison finds himself in the lineup nearly every day, he has a chance to record double-digit homers and steals, as he finished with eight and nine, respectively, in 138 games in 2021. Such an outcome may have been more likely on a lesser team, however, as the contending White Sox may see him as more of a high-end utility option.
