Has first camp outing James threw 64 pitches during an intrasquad game Thursday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Impact James made his first summer camp start since joining the team, after he was away attending the birth of his daughter. As indicated upon his return and evidenced by the 64 pitches he threw Thursday, James kept his arm in shape while away from the team. "I felt like I did a lot of good things today. There's a couple of pitches I wish I could have gotten back," said the right-hander. "There are some things I wish I would have been able to do a little bit better with command at times. First time out in a game setting for me in a long time, I thought I threw really well." Thursday's session suggests he'll be ready to take the ball as Houston's No. 4 starter when the regular season starts.

Dealing with family matter James has been dealing with a family matter and has yet to attend summer camp, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Impact Houston manager Dusty Baker said James could joint the team soon. When he does arrive, James will be part of the competition for the No. 5 starter job.

Not in camp yet James hasn't yet reported to summer camp due to a personal matter, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Impact James, who is the leading candidate for the No. 5 starter job, joins projected No. 4 starter Jose Urquidy (undisclosed) as players not yet in camp. "We're still counting on them," manager Dusty Baker said about the pitchers. "We've got time. Those guys were working out. They were getting pretty well stretched out. They'll be here shortly, hopefully." Should either player (or both) continue to be absent, the Astros would look to Bryan Abreu, Austin Pruitt or Framber Valdez as back-of-the-rotation fill-ins.
