Impact Sears ended the season with four losses in his last five starts, allowing 17 runs across 29 innings in September. He recorded 13 quality starts in 32 outings this season, including six quality starts since the beginning of August. Sears concludes the campaign with a 4.38 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 137:49 K:BB across a career-high 180.2 innings as the Athletics' top starting pitcher.

Impact Most of the damage against Sears came in the first inning; he gave up an RBI single to Andrew Vaughn before Gavin Sheets belted a two-run shot. Bryan Ramos then knocked a solo homer in the sixth. Sears has given up at least four runs in three of his last five outings, resulting in a 4.71 ERA over 28.2 innings. His season ERA now sits at 4.24 with a 127:44 K:BB through 30 starts. Sears is in line for a home matchup with the Yankees this weekend.

The only blemish on Sears' evening was a 406-foot solo homer allowed to Nathaniel Lowe in the second inning.
