Impact The lefty gave up five singles in his first two innings, but he eventually buckled down. Overall, Urias threw 74 of his 95 pitches for strikes, so he was challenging hitters and most of the Washington lineup was not up to the challenge. It looks like the reins are finally coming off for Urias at age 24, at least in terms of his pitch counts; the Dodgers will likely still find ways to manage his innings this season. Urias lines up to face the Padres in San Diego next week.

Impact Urias was seemingly part of a four-way competition with David Price, Tony Gonsolin and Dustin May for the Dodgers' final two rotation spots, though he always appeared to be a favorite. Despite debuting back in 2016, Urias has made a total of just 38 big-league starts, spending time in both the bullpen and on the injured list. If he remains healthy all season, he could blow past his previous career highs of 15 starts and 79.2 innings, though the Dodgers can afford to give him plenty of rest to manage his workload given their impressive rotation depth.

Impact The Dodgers' defense did little to help Urias get off to a smooth start Sunday, committing a pair of errors and a passed ball in the first inning. Though the southpaw was charged with five runs, only one was earned, and that came on a solo home run in the second frame. Urias is attempting to secure the fifth spot in the starting rotation heading into the campaign, and he has held his own so far, giving up two earned runs and striking out six over 6.1 spring innings.

Impact Per Eric Stephen of SBNation.com, Urias was originally scheduled to throw only two innings in the exhibition game, but he made it through the first two frames so efficiently (12 pitches) that he ended up going out for a third. Altogether, the left-hander tossed 26 pitches, retiring all nine batters he faced. Urias appears to have an inside track to a rotation spot to open the campaign, and he clearly helped strengthen his case with Monday's effort.
