INJURIES

Fans six in three-inning start Teng allowed two runs on a hit and two walks while striking out six over three innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Saturday.
Impact Teng threw just 39 of 74 pitches for strikes but was able to limit the damage to a two-run home run by Max Muncy in the first inning. The Giants look to be limiting Teng's workload -- he's reached the five-inning mark in just two of his eight major-league appearances this season. He's at a 6.37 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 39:17 K:BB through 29.2 innings with the big club. Teng could get one more appearance this season, which is tentatively projected to be at home versus the Rockies in the final series of the year.

Decent in no-decision Teng allowed one unearned run on two hits and a walk while striking out five over four innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks on Monday.
Impact Teng gave up a run in the first inning but generally allowed the Giants to keep things close before the bullpen had a rough night. This was Teng's first appearance in over a week after he allowed four runs on three hits and five walks versus the Cardinals on Sept. 7. The right-hander is now at a 6.41 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 33:15 K:BB through 26.2 innings over seven appearances (six starts) in the majors this season. The Giants' rotation has been in flux recently, but Teng would next be available to pitch on normal rest in the back half of this weekend's four-game road series versus the Dodgers.

Fans eight in Sunday's loss Teng (2-4) took the loss against the Cardinals on Sunday, allowing four runs on three hits and five walks while striking out eight across four innings.
Impact Teng and Sonny Gray were locked in a pitchers duel Sunday, with the former keeping the Cardinals off the board through the first four frames. Things fell apart in the fifth for Teng, who issued three straight walks before yielding an RBI single and being pulled from the inning, but not before being tagged for three more runs. Teng was able to generate 14 whiffs on 77 pitches (41 strikes) and has registered eight strikeouts in back-to-back starts, but his five walks were a season high. The Giants currently have a six-man rotation, but it's unclear whether Teng will get another turn or head back to Triple-A Sacramento.

Records victory Monday Teng (2-3) earned the win over Colorado on Monday, allowing two runs on nine hits and no walks while striking out eight batters over 5.1 innings.
Impact Teng struggled with an 8.78 ERA over four starts in August prior to a brief minor-league demotion, but he looked like a different pitcher Monday. Not only did the right-hander limit the Rockies to two runs, he also fanned eight batters, doubling his previous season-best mark. Teng did allow traffic in all but one of his frames, but the Rockies didn't score on him until after he gave way for a reliever with one out in the sixth. Teng figures to get another turn in the rotation given this strong outing, and he lines up to face the Cardinals in St. Louis this weekend.

Impact The right-hander has struggled to an 8.78 ERA across 13.1 frames in the majors this season, but he'll receive another opportunity with the Giants after starter Carson Whisenhunt (back) was placed on the injured list Sunday. Despite his struggles over four outings with the Giants, Teng has been effective for Sacramento this season with a 3.63 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 89:22 K:BB across 57 innings.

Going back to minors The Giants optioned Teng to Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday.
Impact Teng has had an excellent season in the minors, but thus far that hasn't translated at the big-league level, as he's posted an 8.78 ERA and 12:9 K:BB over 13.1 frames covering three starts and one relief outing. He'll try to get back on track and earn another opportunity later this season.

Takes another loss against Padres Teng (1-3) allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits and a walk while striking out four over 3.1 innings to take the loss versus the Padres on Tuesday.
Impact Teng's last two outings have been against San Diego, and he's allowed a total of 10 runs (eight earned) over five innings against the Giants' division rivals. Teng has maintained the last spot in San Francisco's rotation this month, staying in the majors over Carson Whisenhunt when Landen Roupp returned from an elbow injury. That said, Teng's 8.78 ERA and 12:9 K:BB through 13.1 innings over four appearances haven't inspired much confidence in his major-league readiness. If he gets another start, it's projected to be another challenging matchup this weekend in Milwaukee.

Rough day vs. Padres Teng (1-2) took the loss Wednesday against San Diego, allowing seven runs (six earned) on four hits and four walks over 1.2 innings.
Impact After tossing a scoreless first inning, Teng unraveled in the second, allowing six straight batters to reach after recording the first out. It's a disappointing showing from Teng, who held the Nationals scoreless over five innings in his last appearance. With Landen Roupp (elbow) expected to rejoin the Giants' rotation Friday, Teng will likely head back to Triple-A or assume a bullpen role.

Starting Wednesday Teng will draw the start in Wednesday's contest against the Padres, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact Teng will return to the mound to make his second start of the season with San Francisco. The right-hander worked behind opener Matt Gage in Friday's win over the Nationals, tossing five scoreless innings while striking out four batters. Over two outings, Teng owns a 5.40 ERA and 1.32 WHIP with eight punchouts over 8.1 innings, and he'll look to step up to the challenge against an impressive Padres group.
AUGUST 12 • ROTOWIRE
Works well behind opener Teng (1-1) allowed three hits and a walk while striking out four over five shutout innings to earn the win over the Nationals on Friday.
Impact Teng took the hill in the second inning after a perfect frame from opener Matt Gage. It was a good overall effort from the Giants' pitching staff, with Teng standing out with an efficient 64 pitches (42 strikes) during his outing. He rebounded from allowing five runs over 3.1 innings versus the Mets in his season debut last Saturday. Teng is likely to get another turn through the rotation, as Landen Roupp (elbow) is nearing a rehab assignment, which may only need to be one start. Should Teng get another turn, he's tentatively projected to face the Padres at home, though it's unclear whether he'll start or work behind an opener.
