Hitting bench Wednesday Misner is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

Impact Misner had picked up starts in the outfield while batting sixth in each of the last four games, going a collective 4-for-13 with a double, three RBI and a run. While Josh Lowe (oblique) is on the injured list, Rays manager Kevin Cash could mix and match at all three outfield spots, taking into account both the opposing pitcher and which of his outfielders are swinging hot bats. The Rays will run out a trio of Jake Mangum, Jonny DeLuca and Jose Caballero from left to right Wednesday.

Impact Misner has started four straight games in the absence of Josh Lowe (oblique), starting at each outfield spot in that span. Impact Misner had been on track to begin the season in the minors after being optioned to Triple-A last Wednesday, but a spot on the Rays' Opening Day roster opened up for him after Richie Palacios suffered a fractured ring finger that will send him to the injured list. With Christopher Morel, Jonny DeLuca and Josh Lowe seemingly locked in as the Rays' preferred starting outfield trio against right-handed pitching, the lefty-hitting Misner likely won't be in line for many at-bats to begin the season.

Impact Along with Jake Mangum and Chandler Simpson, Misner was one of three players vying for a backup outfield role that was sent to the minors Wednesday. Misner saw action in eight games with Tampa Bay in 2024 but otherwise spent the entire season at Durham, where he slashed .248/.360/.442 with 17 home runs and 30 stolen bases over 519 plate appearances.

Summoned to big leagues The Rays selected Misner's contract from Triple-A Durham on Friday, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Impact It's the first major-league promotion for Misner, who has slashed .247/.356/.446 with 15 home runs and 27 stolen bases with Durham this season. Misner, 26, also has a 30.1 percent strikeout rate with Durham, and swings and misses have been a problem for him throughout pro ball. He's capable of handling all three outfield spots but it's unclear how much Misner will play.
