Impact Heasley has made six starts at Triple-A Omaha to begin the year, and he's posted a 4.44 ERA, 30:6 K:BB and 0.96 WHIP in 26.1 innings. The right-hander made three starts for the Royals in 2021 and will be called up ahead of Thursday's matchup to make his 2022 debut.

Impact Speier has yet to allow a run over seven relief appearances this season but hasn't recorded more than six outs in any of those outings. The Royals are thus unlikely to keep him in the game more than one time through the order before turning the game over to their relief corps. Former starting pitcher Kris Bubic will be available out of the bullpen and hasn't been used since May 4, so he could be a logical candidate to pick up the bulk of the innings behind Speier.

Adalberto Mondesi - Undergoes successful surgery The Royals revealed Wednesday that Mondesi (knee) underwent successful surgery last week, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Impact Mondesi was diagnosed with a torn ACL in late April, and he'll now begin his lengthy recovery process following his successful procedure. The 26-year-old is expected to require 6-to-9 months to recover, so he'll likely miss the remainder of the season. Nicky Lopez has served as Kansas City's primary shortstop since Mondesi sustained his injury.

Impact Dozier was the only Royal to reach base multiple times in this contest. It was also his second multi-hit effort in his last three games. The 30-year-old lifted his slash line to .258/.298/.461 with three home runs, seven RBI, 10 runs scored, five doubles and two triples in 25 contests. Injuries to Edward Olivares (quadriceps) and Carlos Santana (ankle) have opened up playing time for Dozier at both first base and in right field, so he should be a fairly regular presence in the lineup going forward.

Brad Keller - Allows 10 baserunners in loss Keller (1-3) took the loss after giving up six runs (five earned) over 5.2 innings in a 6-4 defeat Tuesday in Texas. He allowed nine hits and a walk while striking out three.
Impact After retiring the first two batters on groundouts, Keller gave up a solo homer to Corey Seager and three consecutive singles in the three-run first. Seager tagged him for another solo shot in the third and the Rangers manufactured runs in the fourth and sixth. It was arguably his least effective start of the season with the two home runs doubling his season total. Despite the poor showing, the 25-year-old has an excellent 2.70 ERA and 0.98 WHIP through six starts. His next start will likely be early next week against the White Sox.
