Josh Staumont - Clean inning in relief Staumont pitcher the eighth inning, striking out one in a 2-1 loss Friday against Detroit.
Impact Staumont needed just nine pitches to retire the side in order in the eighth. It was the first clean inning of the season for the righty. In 2021, Staumont allowed fewer than 6 H/9 while having nearly 10 K/9 and picking up a handful of saves. Scott Barlow is the closer for the Royals but Staumont is still one of the top arms in their bullpen.

Brad Keller - Tough loss Keller (0-1) took the loss, throwing seven innings with five strikeouts and allowing two runs on three hits and two walks in a 2-1 loss Friday against Detroit.
Impact Keller allowed only one single in the first six innings and needed just 74 pitches to complete those frames. With two outs in the seventh, Spencer Torkelson uncorked a two-run homer to put Detroit ahead 2-1. Despite going winless, the 26-year-old has been excellent in his first two starts, allowing only eight baserunners in 13 innings. His next start is scheduled for Thursday against Minnesota.
