Jackson Kowar - On Opening Day roster Kowar was awarded a spot on the Opening Day roster Tuesday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Impact The first-round pick from 2018 got his first taste of big-league action last season, but he struggled with an 11.27 ERA and 2.08 WHIP across nine appearances spanning 30.1 innings. He didn't have the best spring either, allowing four runs on eight hits and three walks through seven innings. Kowar will be able to log multi-inning assignments, though with Carlos Hernandez in the rotation, it's expected Kowar will operate out of the bullpen to begin the year.

Gabe Speier - Earns roster spot Speier was awarded a spot on the Opening Day roster, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Impact Speier finished 2021 well with a 1.17 ERA and 1.30 WHIP across 7.2 innings after spending the bulk of the season with Triple-A Omaha. The southpaw saw mainly low-leverage work, and with plenty of bullpen arms ahead of him, Speier should expect to see most of his time in the middle innings in 2022.

Collin Snider - Starting season in big leagues Snider will be on the Royals' Opening Day roster, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Impact It's a little surprising to see Snider on the roster after he posted a mediocre 6.30 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 23:12 K:BB across 30 innings with Triple-A Omaha after a midseason promotion last year. To his credit, he pushed the issue with a 1.35 ERA over 6.2 innings in spring training. The right-hander will provide the Royals with a multi-inning option out of the bullpen to begin the season.

Impact Jon Heyman of MLB Network previously reported over the weekend that Witt would be included on the Royals' Opening Day roster, but the team waited a few days to make the matter official. Witt has seen the bulk of his minor-league action at shortstop, but he'll be installed as the Royals' everyday starter at third base after playing the position throughout the spring. The 21-year-old answered any questions about his readiness for the big leagues by mashing during Cactus League play, as he carries a .406/.441/.781 slash line into Tuesday's spring finale against the Brewers.

Impact Tapia struggled with his control this spring, surrendering five runs on eight hits and six walks while striking out one batter over 5.1 innings in seven appearances. The reliever was an effective bullpen option for the Mariners and Royals last season, posting a 2.67 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. He'll look to recapture his control from 2021 while in the minors and return to the big-leagues at some point in the coming weeks.

Vinnie Pasquantino - Makes big spring impression Pasquantino went 9-for-23 with two homers, two doubles and a 2:7 BB:K this spring, producing a .391/.440/.739 batting line. However, he will be starting the season in Triple-A.
Impact Those stats jump off the page, but that's nothing new for Pasquantino, who crushed to the tune of .300/.394/.563 with 24 homers, 84 RBI and six steals in 116 games across High-A and Double-A last year. Most impressively, he put up a brilliant 64:64 BB:K, reflective of his rare bat-to-ball skills. Incumbent first baseman Carlos Santana is in his decline phase and so won't be a huge impediment to Pasquantino's progress to the major-league level, but fellow prospects Nick Pratto and MJ Melendez might be. Either way, if he rakes in Triple-A the way he has everywhere else so far, it's going to be impossible to keep him down for too long.
