Ryan O'Hearn - On bench TuesdayO'Hearn is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rangers.
ImpactO'Hearn had started at first base or designated hitter in four of the Royals' last five games, going 2-for-13 with two RBI and a run. With a southpaw (Martin Perez) on the mound for Texas, the lefty-hitting O'Hearn will cede his spot in the lineup to the righty-hitting Emmanuel Rivera, who will handle DH duties.

MJ Melendez - Starting in right fieldMelendez will bat sixth and play right field Tuesday against Texas, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
ImpactCatcher is Melendez's natural position, but he'll have to find at-bats around the diamond for as long as Salvador Perez remains in Kansas City. Perez has shifted to the designated hitter spot three times in the six games since Melendez's arrival, with Melendez filling that spot once as well, but adding the ability to play the outfield will get Melendez even more paths to playing time.

Asa Lacy - Dealing with back tightnessLacy (back) hasn't pitched since April 17 due to back tightness.
ImpactLacy's injury wasn't expected to cost him much time, and Double-A Northwest Arkansas remains optimistic he'll be back soon, but it's concerning given he's missed over three weeks. The southpaw allowed six runs (five earned) with a 13:5 K:BB across 9.2 innings in his first two starts of the season before he was sidelined.

Gunnar Henderson - Named Double-A Player of the WeekHenderson was named the Eastern League Player of the Week with Double-A Bowie, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ImpactHenderson went 9-for-17 (.529) with a home run, four RBI, five runs scored and four stolen bases in his last five games. He's now slashing .309/.459/.506 through 25 games at the Double-A level this season, which bodes well for his chances of moving up to Triple-A Norfolk some time in the summer.

Travis Lakins Sr. - Back with big clubThe Orioles recalled Lakins from Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday.
ImpactLakins never reported to Norfolk after he was optioned to the affiliate following Sunday's doubleheader, as he was instead included on the Orioles' taxi squad ahead of their three-game series in St. Louis. He'll end up rejoining the 26-man active roster after fellow reliever Jorge Lopez (personal) was placed on the bereavement list. Lopez is expected to miss at least the next three games, but if he rejoins the Orioles this weekend in Detroit, Lakins will be the logical candidate to move back off the active roster.

Jorge López - Goes on bereavement leaveThe Orioles placed Lopez on the bereavement list Tuesday.
ImpactPer MLB rules, players placed on the bereavement list aren't eligible to be activated for at least three days and can stay on the list for a maximum of seven days, so at the very least, Lopez won't be available for the Orioles' three-game series with the Cardinals that begins Tuesday. While Lopez is sidelined, Dillon Tate is the most likely candidate to handle closing duties for the Orioles; he's recorded the only Baltimore save this season that that hasn't gone to Lopez, who has recorded four.
