What we learned in MLB this week: Time to trade Juan Soto, Max Scherzer and Nolan Arenado?
Andrés Giménez - Nabs steal in winGimenez went 0-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Royals.
ImpactGimenez hit second in this contest, and he could have a chance to get more time in that spot following the trade that sent Amed Rosario to the Dodgers. It's been a productive July for Gimenez on the basepaths, as he's logged eight of his 16 steals over his last 20 contests despite slashing .240/.321/.453 for the month. Aside from an uptick in power, that's not all that different from his .241/.311/.385 slash line for the year, so he may need to be more consistent to stay in the No. 2 spot.

Will Brennan - Logs steal WednesdayBrennan went 0-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Royals.
ImpactBrennan hit well from mid-May through June, but the outfielder has slumped in July. He's batting just .209 with two extra-base hits and two RBI over his last 20 games. The 25-year-old is at a passable .258/.293/.371 slash line with five home runs, seven steals, 27 RBI and 27 runs scored over 91 contests, but his playing time is likely to slip with Oscar Gonzalez's imminent return to the big leagues. If right field turns into a platoon situation, Brennan would be on the strong side of it, but he'll need to hit better to avoid losing work against right-handed pitchers.
JULY 27, 2023ROTOWIRE
Nick Sandlin - Secures fifth winSandlin (5-3) allowed a run on two hits and struck out one over one inning to pick up the win Wednesday over the Royals.
ImpactSandlin worked the fifth inning after starter Gavin Williams was inefficient over four scoreless frames (87 pitches). While Sandlin has struggled lately, giving up six runs over his last four innings, he's picked up two holds and a win in that span. He's at a 3.63 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 43:14 K:BB through 39.2 innings while continuing to fill a versatile role in the Guardians' bullpen.
JULY 27, 2023ROTOWIRE
Gavin Williams - Goes four innings in no-decisionWilliams did not factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing three hits and two walks over four scoreless innings in an 8-3 win over Kansas City. He struck out five.
ImpactIt's the second straight start that an elevated pitch count forced Williams out after four innings, despite limited damage against him. The rookie threw 87 pitches Wednesday, 56 for strikes, despite only issuing two walks. Williams is 1-2 this season with a 3.35 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 31:17 K:BB through seven starts (37.2 innings) this season. He'll look to provide more length in his next start, currently scheduled for next week in Houston.
JULY 27, 2023ROTOWIRE
Alec Marsh - Falls to 0-5Marsh (0-5) took the loss Wednesday, allowing four runs on five hits and four walks over 2.2 innings against the Guardians. He struck out three.
ImpactIt was another tough outing for Marsh, who needed 75 pitches to make it through just 2.2 innings. The rookie right-hander has been tagged with a loss in all five of his MLB starts thus far -- his ERA is up to 7.04 with a 1.65 WHIP and 27:14 K:BB across 23 innings. Despite his early struggles, the rebuilding Royals will likely keep Marsh in the rotation for an extended look. His next start would be lined up for next week against the Mets.
JULY 27, 2023ROTOWIRE
David Fry - Homers again WednesdayFry went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Royals.
ImpactFry's now hit three homers over his last eight games while going 8-for-24 (.333) with a 1.176 OPS in that span. Overall, the 27-year-old Fry is slashing an impressive .288/.342/.493 with four homers, 13 RBI, 10 runs scored and two steals across his first 79 plate appearances. While Bo Naylor will see the majority of reps behind the plate, Fry should be able to earn fairly regular at-bats thanks to his ability to play multiple infield and outfield positions.
