Andrew Benintendi - Raps out three hitsBenintendi went 3-for-4 in Wednesday's 4-0 loss to the Guardians.
ImpactBenintendi and Carlos Santana were the only Royals who logged multiple hits against Konnor Pilkington and three Cleveland relievers. This was Benintendi's fourth multi-hit effort in his last five games, and he's hit safely in 14 of his last 15 contests, going 24-for-60 (.400) in that longer stretch. He's up to a .337/.402/.431 slash line with two home runs, 21 RBI, 16 runs scored and no stolen bases in 49 games while often hitting No. 2 in the order.

Brad Keller - No help in lossKeller (1-6) took the loss Wednesday versus the Guardians. He allowed four runs on six hits and three walks with one strikeout in six innings.
ImpactKeller allowed a run in each of the third through sixth innings, while the Royals' offense was limited to just seven singles and a pair of walks in the contest. With four or more runs allowed in four of his last five starts, Keller's hot start to the season is becoming an increasingly distant memory. He's now at a 4.15 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 33:18 K:BB across 60.2 innings in 10 starts. The 26-year-old right-hander is projected to make his next start at home versus the Blue Jays next week.

Oscar Mercado - Losing playing timeMercado has started in just four games since May 19.
ImpactMercado's lack of playing time can be attributed to the success of Oscar Gonzalez in right field. All four of Mercado's starts in the last two weeks have come against left-handed pitchers, but he's just 2-for-15 in his last eight contests, which includes four entrances off the bench. At this point, he's a short-side platoon option. He's slashing a meager .198/.228/.385 with four home runs, 15 RBI, 12 runs scored and a stolen base in 101 plate appearances.

Konnor Pilkington - Strikes out eight in winPilkington (1-0) earned the win Wednesday over the Royals. he allowed five hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in five shutout innings.
ImpactPilkington hadn't shown much through his first two starts with the Guardians, but he turned in a good outing Wednesday. All of the Royals' hits in the contest were singles. Pilkington now has a 2.65 ERA with a 1.59 WHIP and 23:10 K:BB across 17 innings this season. While the walks are a little concerning, he's likely done enough to warrant staying the rotation for another turn with Aaron Civale (glute) set to undergo a non-surgical procedure. Pilkington lines up for his next start versus the Rangers next week.
