Struggles continueCandelario went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts against the Royals Wednesday and is hitless in 13 at-bats this season.
ImpactThis wasn't the start Candelario was looking for, especially with Dawel Lugo, Harold Castro and Jordy Mercer all options to play at third base. The Tigers will likely show some patience with the 26-year-old, but Candelario could really use a hot streak to make sure he doesn't shift to more of a bench role moving forward.

Allows four runs againBoyd allowed four earned runs on nine hits across five innings in a no-decision Wednesday against the Royals. He struck out six against zero walks.
ImpactBoyd had a similar line to his first start of the season, when he also allowed four earned runs across five innings. Like in that outing, the lefty struggled early against Kansas City, as the Royals did all of their damage in the first three innings before Boyd recorded two scoreless innings to end his night. The silver lining Tuesday was that Boyd had more swing-and-miss stuff, as he only recorded two strikeouts in his last start. Boyd will look to pitch better early in the game his next time out Monday against the Cardinals.

ImpactThe Tigers are off to a 4-2 start, and Jimenez has saves in all of the team's wins. The hard-throwing righty has been up and down since arriving in the majors in 2017, but he has the stuff to be a dominant closer, as evidenced by the 82 strikeouts he recorded in just 59.2 innings a season ago.
