Alex Bregman - On brink of activationManager Dusty Baker said Tuesday that Bregman (hamstring) could be activated from the 10-day injured list in the next day or two, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.
ImpactBregman played consecutive nine-inning games with Triple-A Sugar Land before returning to Houston to workout with the big-league club Tuesday. Based on Baker's update, it sounds like the infielder could be activated as soon as Wednesday's series finale against the Royals. Bregman has slowly been working his way back from a right hamstring injury that has sidelined him since mid-June, and he should assume the every day job at third base once reinstated.

Bryan Abreu - Recalled TuesdayAbreu was recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land prior to Tuesday's game against Kansas City, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.
ImpactHe'll take the roster spot of Pedro Baez, who landed on the injured list with right shoulder soreness Tuesday. Abreu has already spent substantial time with the big club in 2021, posting a 4.08 ERA and 35:17 K:BB across 35.1 innings.

Pedro Báez - Placed on IL with shoulder sorenessBaez was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with shoulder soreness, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.
ImpactBaez made his season debut Aug.10 after being sidelined for the entire season with a shoulder injury. He's allowed just one run across 4.1 innings since returning, but his move back to the IL doesn't come as a surprise given that he experienced down velocity numbers in recent outings. The transaction is retroactive to Sunday, so Baez will be eligble to come off the injured list Sep. 1, though it's possible he'll need more time to recover. Bryan Abreu was recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land to take his roster spot.
