Josh Smith - Dealing with ankle sorenessSmith was scratched from the lineup for Saturday's Cactus League game against the Brewers due to ankle soreness, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
ImpactSmith was initially slated to start at second base against Milwaukee, but he never took the field due to his ankle injury. The move is mainly considered precautionary, so it's possible that the 24-year-old will be back in action within a few days.

Nick Pratto - Strong start to springPratto went 2-for-2 with a two-run home run in Friday's 5-5 tie against the Rangers.
ImpactPratto is one of the Royals' top prospects, and he's off to a good start in spring training. The first baseman slashed .259/.367/.634 with 21 home runs, 55 RBI, 54 runs scored and five stolen bases in 63 games after a midseason promotion to Triple-A Omaha last year. Much of the focus in Kansas City is on top overall prospect Bobby Witt, but Pratto's call to the big leagues could also come in 2022. He's got great power, but he also struck out at a 28.5 percent clip last year at the Triple-A level.

Eli White - Shows off new swingWhite (elbow) went 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored Friday's spring game against the Royals.
ImpactWhite served as the designated hitter and will likely continue to do so, as he strengthens the elbow for throwing. The game action was a chance for the righty hitter to unveil his new swing, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports. "I'm trying to stay through the ball more and not so much rotational like around the ball," White said. The goal is reduce the frequency of batted balls that are pulled and direct more hits to center and right field. A one-time prospect, the 27-year-old White hasn't done much against big-league pitching since making his debut in 2020, owing a career .179/.254/.293 slash line. He is not expected to be ready for Opening Day.

Corey Seager - Homers in spring debutSeager went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run in Friday's spring game against Kansas City.
ImpactThe Rangers showcased their major offseason acquisitions Friday with Seager batting second behind Marcus Semien at leadoff. Each made his Cactus League debut. Seager had his most plate appearances in 2021 out of the two-hole for the Dodgers.

Marcus Semien - Makes spring debutSemien went 0-for-2 in Friday's spring game against the Royals.
ImpactSemien, one of two major free-agent acquisitions during the offseason, made his Cactus League debut Friday, batting atop the lineup. He was followed in the order by the team's other major free-agent signing, Corey Seager. The Rangers traded their primary leadoff hitter from last season, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, so Semien should be viewed as a leadoff option. He mostly batted first or second for the Blue Jays in 2021.
