Impact The move was reported Sunday and now the transaction is official, which ends Jansen's season. Jansen has battled through a shoulder problem throughout this month, and since they're out of the playoff hunt the Red Sox have opted to go ahead and shut him down. Chris Martin and Justin Slaten are expected to handle closer duties for Boston in the final week. Jansen will be a free agent this offseason.
