Quick return not expected
Manager Craig Counsell said Tuesday that Hiura may be in store for a longer stint at Triple-A Nashville than his previous demotion this season, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact
The 24-year-old was optioned to Nashville on Monday after going 2-for-29 with 16 strikeouts for Milwaukee following his three-week stint in the minors. Hiura may not rejoin the Brewers until after the All-Star break, and it wouldn't be surprising to see some tweaks to his swing mechanics given his 39.3 percent strikeout rate.

Optioned to Triple-A
Hiura was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Monday.
Impact
Hiura had been out of the lineup in three of the last four games, and he'll now return to the minors. He appeared in 11 games for the Brewers after he was called back up May 24, but he hit just .069 with a double, a run, two walks and 16 strikeouts during that time. Daniel Vogelbach should continue to serve as the primary first baseman going forward.

Sitting against righty
Hiura is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Impact
Hiura had started at first base in six of the Brewers' last seven games, but that was largely a byproduct of Milwaukee facing a heavy schedule of left-handed starting pitchers. Even with the platoon advantage often being in his favor, Hiura hasn't been able to do much at the plate since returning from Triple-A Nashville on May 24. In his first week and a half back with the big club, Hiura has gone 1-for-23 with 13 strikeouts. He'll likely continue to fill a short-side platoon role with the lefty-hitting Daniel Vogelbach, who gets the nod at first base Thursday.

Little success since return
Hiura went 0-for-3 with a strikeout Monday in the Brewers' 3-2 win over the Tigers in 10 innings.
Impact
The Brewers had hoped that a three-week stint in the minors would help Hiura refine his swing mechanics and regain some confidence at the plate, but the 24-year-old hasn't shown any improvement since his May 24 call-up. Despite benefitting from a slew of matchups versus left-handed pitching, Hiura has mustered only one hit in 19 at-bats with a 2:10 BB:K in his first seven games back with Milwaukee. Until he cuts down on his strikeouts and shows he can hit for power consistently, Hiura may be limited to a short-side platoon role at first base behind Daniel Vogelbach.

Keston Hiura is back up with the Brewers after rediscovering his power stroke at Class AAA Nashville

Officially recalled by Brewers
Hiura was recalled by the Brewers on Monday.
Impact
Hiura was sent to Triple-A Nashville at the beginning of May, and he slashed .438/.526/.906 with three home runs, seven RBI and two stolen bases in nine minor-league games. He isn't guaranteed an everyday role with the big-league club going forward, as Daniel Vogelbach has posted a .784 OPS since Hiura's demotion. As a result, Hiura could have to settle for the short side of a platoon at first base in the near future.

Rejoining Milwaukee
The Brewers plan to recall Hiura from Triple-A Nashville ahead of Monday's series opener against the Padres, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
Impact
After Hiura posted a .513 OPS while striking out in 36 percent of his plate appearances over his first 26 games of the season in the majors, the Brewers sent him to Triple-A on May 3 to regain some confidence at the dish. While the 24-year-old still turned in a bloated 34.2 percent strikeout rate with Nashville over the past three weeks, he at least rediscovered his power stroke (three home runs and six doubles in 38 plate appearances). Though he'll be moving back up to the big club, Hiura isn't a lock to recapture an everyday role at first base, where Daniel Vogelbach has delivered a respectable .784 OPS since Hiura was demoted. The righty-swinging Hiura may have to initially settle for the short side of a platoon at the position with the lefty-hitting Vogelbach until the Brewers feel more confident Hiura can handle a full-time role.

Stacking up doubles at Triple-A
Hiura is 7-for-20 (.350) with five doubles, two RBI, a steal and a 2:8 BB:K through five games with Triple-A Nashville.
Impact
Hiura got some time to tend to personal matters after being sent down by the Brewers early this month, but he joined the team's Triple-A affiliate last week and has been playing regularly since. He is stacking up doubles and hitting far better than he did at the big-league level, but he is still striking out quite a bit, and the Brewers are likely hoping to see some improvement in that area before bringing him back to the big-league club.
