Impact Herget has now been designated for assignment three times in the past six weeks. His latest stint on the 40-man roster lasted just one day, as he had his contract selected Monday morning and went on to allow four runs in 4.1 innings of relief that evening against the Red Sox. Jimmy Yacabonis was called up to take his place on the roster.

Back on 40-man, active roster The Rays selected Herget's contract from Triple-A Durham ahead of Monday's game in Boston.

Impact He'll be rejoining the big-league bullpen as a replacement for right-hander Easton McGee, who was designated for assignment after covering three innings in Sunday's loss to the Astros. Over his prior two appearances out of the Tampa Bay bullpen this season, Herget allowed two earned runs on two hits and no walks over 2.2 innings.

Impact He'll remain in the Tampa Bay organization after he went unclaimed upon being exposed to waivers over the weekend. Herget has made two appearances at the big-league level but has otherwise spent the entire campaign at Durham, where he's produced a 2.98 ERA and 1.20 WHIP across 93.2 innings.

Impact Herget has been in the minors, but he joined the Rays organization ahead of the 2022 season and has posted a 2.45 ERA and 1.10 ERA in 80.2 innings over 16 appearances (14 starts) at Durham. The 31-year-old hasn't yet made his major-league debut and will likely serve as a multi-inning option out of Tampa Bay's bullpen.
